ELMA’s journey

Hi, I’m Eleanor, the artist behind ELMA Fine Art. I’m a self-taught acrylic painter based in the Pre-Pyrenees of Spain, deeply inspired by the quiet magic of nature.

Over the past year, I’ve travelled and lived within a range of communities across Portugal, Morocco, and the UK. Now, the Spanish mountains have captured my heart and become the place where I feel called to settle.

My experiences in off-grid communities have profoundly shaped my artistic practice, influencing everything from abstract, vibrant pieces inspired by the Sahara Desert to highly detailed, mystical depictions of moss-covered forests in Portugal.

Before living this lifestyle, I had roots in Bristol, UK, where I founded Pet Pawtraits, creating bespoke, realistic portraits of pets.

Living off-grid and fully immersed in nature has taught me to slow down and pay attention to the subtle beauty that reveals itself when you truly learn to look. The stillness that comes from stepping away from the noise of modern life has allowed me to reconnect with what matters most. This is why each artwork I create is an invitation to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the earth, so we can all experience a moment of calm that’s often hard to find in everyday life.

Every piece I create begins with something real. A simple moment of noticing; an unexpected emotion stirred by the landscape, a shift in light or colour, or a quiet detail that stays with me. Wherever I find myself, the environment is never just scenery to pass through. It’s a guide, a living, swirling source of ideas, feelings, and inspiration that shapes my work in ways I could never force or predict.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explore my work, it really means the world to me. I hope that, in some small way, each piece lets you feel even a fraction of the joy, awe, and wonder I experienced in the moments that inspired it.
